Château Pipeau Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2012

Region:    St. Emilion, Bordeaux, France
Grapes :       Bordeaux Blend
Alcohol :      14%
Size:             750ml
Body:           Full Bodied

In 1929, 3 kilometers from the famous village of Saint-Emilion, a talented man of vision, Georges Mestreguilhem founded the family estate by purchasing Château Pipeau with vineyards of just 7 Hectares.

His son, Pierre Mestreguilhem continued to enhance the estate thereby confirming the spirit of the family.

Since then, Richard and Dominique, Pierre’s son and daughter have continued to carry on their father’s good work by keeping the estate management entirely a family affair.

Tasting Notes: Beautiful dense ruby colour.  Hints of earth, incense, roasted herbs, and notions of licorice and lead pencil shavings opens to an exuberant nose of black raspberries, sweet black cherries and especially black currants.  Fleshy and full-bodied with beautifully fine, velvety tannins.  Very much in the style of top Saint-Emilion Grand Cru which can be drank now or cellared easily for 12 to 15 years.

Wine Pairing: Beef Wellington, Roast rack or leg of lamb served pink.
